Innovació i Recerca Industrial i Sostenible (IRIS) was established in the highly industrious region of Catalonia (Spain) as a flexible and dynamic research centre with a clear mission of providing tailored technological and research solutions to local industry, with the overall goal of fomenting innovation, competitiveness, sustainable development and employment.

IRIS is a research company that specialises in the design, engineering and development of custom system designs for industry, especially in the fields of electrical, electronics and computer engineering and mainly serving the agro-food, water and environmental sectors.

We currently focus on two particular fields of applications: process engineering and process monitoring.

IRIS provides a wide range of electrical, electronic and computer engineering and research services from product/process concept design, defined in close consultation with the customer, to manufacturing and final validation which is again carried out with the customer in order to ensure that the developed solution is tailored to meet their needs. At every stage of our work we carry out assessments of any potential modifications to further improve the product or process.

IRIS possesses the experience and resources to carry out system engineering, electronic design, Printed Circuit Board layout design and assembly, firmware development (FPGA, microprocessors, microcontrollers, etc.) and software development (C, C++., Visual Basic, LabView, etc), electrical harnesses and interconnections, mechanical design for enclosure and prototype integration.

All prototypes are fully tested and validated with the client prior to delivery to ensure quality and customer satisfaction. IRIS also provides a post-production service to provide all of our customers with long-term support.

We can also carry out reverse and re-engineering of existing equipment, electronic repair, as well as provide consultancy for electronic projects being carried out by industry.

All of these tailored advanced solutions are provided within a variety of applications both in industrial sectors, such as agro-food, telecommunication, automotive, robotics or medical, as well as academic fields.

Within this context, our goal is to provide contract research to companies that require specialised research and engineering expertise and that do not possess their own in-house R&D staff or department, due to financial, time or technical constraints, or that might simply require punctual external assistance to meet with pressing deadlines. In addition to this, we also provide technical assistance to scientists and engineers who lack time and/or expertise in areas of IRIS’s core competence, as well as those who want to investigate or validate the feasibility of an idea or concept.
