Since our beginnings in 2007, IRIS has come a long way from its 40 m2 installations in the centre of Barcelona, to the 480 m2 of engineering workshops, laboratory facilities and offices that it now has in the Parc Mediterrani de la Tecnologia, just south of Barcelona city, which house its infrastructure and its 30 research and engineering staff.
Over the years, we have built up strategic alliances and working relationships with local universities, such as the Polytechnic University of Catalunya (UPC) and the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB) at local level, as well as national and international Institutes and Universities, such as the Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas (CSIC), University College Dublin, VTT Research Centre of Finland, University of Perugia, Franhofer Institute, among others. These relationships enable IRIS to tap into a wealth of basic research knowledge and capacity that can be extracted and applied to improve many aspects of engineering, and bringing novel processing technologies and techniques to improve production processes and products.
Since 2007, IRIS has worked with local and national companies from the agrofood, materials, packaging, pharmaceutical and environmental monitoring sectors in providing solutions to improve their processes, products and services, as well as companis from the European stage.
